About Atlanta Flight
Russell
Still is the founder of Atlanta Flight, Inc. He was born in
Augusta, Georgia and grew up in central Florida. In 1974, Still
received a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Sciences
from the University of Florida. The son, nephew, and brother of
pilots, he began his own aviation career in 1975 with skydiving
and flight training.
Since 1979, Still has written for trade publications including PC
Magazine, PC World, Southern Aviator,
and AutoPILOT Magazine. He authored
his first book, Relics of the Space Race, in 1994.
In 1998 he wrote the wartime biography of MGen Joel Paris entitled
Three One Five, Buster! Following that, he authored The
Unbroken Chain, the memoirs of famed NASA pad leader, Guenter
Wendt. It was nominated for two international literary awards. In
2005, Still began production of
Gold Seal
FAA Test Prep summaries, writing and narrating all of the material.
Russell lives with his wife, Dawn, on a private airstrip in north Georgia.
In addition to a variety of light singles, he has piloted Douglas
DC-3, Beechcraft King Air, Nanchang CJ-6, P-51 Mustang, AT-6 Texan,
and PT-17 Stearman aircraft. He holds CFI, CFII, IGI, and Gold
Seal ratings
from the FAA and is an Instructor Pilot in the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary.
100% of his students pass their written tests on their first
attempt. 94% of his students pass their checkrides on their first
attempt.
Russell Still is one of only two
instructors in the state of Georgia to have both Gold Seal and
Master CFI designations. He is the only instructor in the state to
produce a commercially available line of educational tools for
aviation.
Atlanta Flight's offices are located
at the Gwinnett County Airport on the south side of the field.
